Al Alami tells the story of a young man who gets over personal tragedy in order to achieve his dream of being an internationally renowned football star. Told in flashback, the film charts his journey from a football-loving schoolboy, to playing for Valencia and leading Egypt in their world cup qualifying group. Off the field, Malek's personal life is also a real rollercoaster journey. After growing up with an abusive father, then suffering a massive personal tragedy as a young man, he still finds the courage to pursue his dream of becoming a professional footballer and leading his country to the world cup. A serious car crash almost destroys his dream as he enters a coma and suffers heavy injuries. Will he gather enough strength and muster enough hope to come back on time for the final qualifying game against Algeria; the game that will see his personal dream, and the dream of an entire nation, coming true?
